The Church was founded in 1840 by Pastor Horatio N. Irish. The Methodist Church was organized in 1853 with the Reverends Cartwright and Irish taking an active part with eight members. They met in a small frame building  until the present stone church was built in 1868. The Fellowship Hall was built and finished  in 1963.
